Wow I am so tired and stressed out.

I HATE TRAFFIC!!  I know remember why I wanted out of Texas besides the high property taxes. it is the crazy drivers. They tread every road like it was a race track. I had gotten use to the slower laid back driving that is Arkansas as long as you stay off the interstate highways. I have eaten out so much I had eating. I have managed to stay within my calorie budget, and a lot below it. But the salt is killing me. And I feel so stressed out from driving around these roads. Boy will I be glad to get home. Even knowing we have so much work to do. We have to get the trailer cleaned up and out so we can take it back to the dealer to have a number of things fixed. I believe so of it is our fault but still it is not as good as the one we had. And we have to get the house ready for the carpet to be removed and have the new wood floor installed. I cannot wait for that to happen. I also want to get back to walking.

I will have a lot to say once I have been reading two books by a Doctor that I will be sharing more about. Reading these books just adds to my feelings that the foods that we have in the USA is killing us and is the cause to us being so over weight and fat. Our fat is not really our fault, it is the food we have to eat. The biggest issue is what our government, our doctors, and fitness, health and everyone else is saying we should do is only adding to our poor health it this country. There is really no such thing as health food. If you buy it in a grocery store even when it is so called fresh veggies, and fruit it is manufactured. The food, and the perfume, soaps, toothpaste etc all are so full of crap that is meant to destroy our body it is crazy. We are being told we have not willpower to control our eating, but the truth is that what we are having to eat is what is causing our health issues from a to z.

A cool and beautiful day here in Central Texas

Well, it is has been a while since I have written in the blog.  We were up very early on Tuesday, connected the trailer and headed out to Texas. I can say the trip was safe, and we made good time even with stops for gas and breaks. The trail set up fairly easy but we are having issues getting the trailer to disconnect for the Jeep, and we are having issues getting the water to drain out of the sink, nothing that is a show stopper just somewhat of a pain. I have to say this trailer is somewhat smaller and does not offer the comfort that the other one did, but it does offer the needed bathroom. We all have to deal with trade offs in life don’t we.

I have been doing better than expected with my eating. I have stay well below my calorie budget. My salt level is more than likely up seeing we have been eating out more than expected.

I am reading a very good book, that is really making me think about my eating habits. It is “Dr Gundry’s Diet Evolution”. For me it is an eye opener about the evolution of our eating and diet over the ages and it goes in to some really great thoughts on why we have all the diseases that we have now days. He has a lot of good information and the diet plan to reverse our problems and even have us live longer. I have to say it follows so much that my grandmother told me when I was a child. She was Native American and believed in the old ways. I am not going to say it is what you should do or at this point that it is what I am going to do to the letter. I do follow a lot of the plan he lays out, and I do intend to do more of it. But I am not sure I can go for the whole plan. But that is where he says something that has gotten me attention. He says to do as much as you feel you can and if possible over time do more. His comment is this the more you can do the better off you are.

In a nutshell it is about eating more green leaf diet less meat, and less fruit and sugar of all types. Also cut out all grains if possible. And the one that I am having a hard time with is cutting out milk. He does not say you have to cut out cheeses as long as they are as he calls them new our young cheese. Yogurt, and cottage cheese, unflavored is good. He is also for eating a lot calorie diet and as he says to live longer you eat less calories and more bulk.

The shock to me was fresh fruit, and even some of the fresh veggies that he is saying is a no-no. You would have to read the book to fully get the picture and I am still reading. And it has reversed my thinking in a lot of what I have beed doing so far.

Cloudy and cool

Sunday was a rainy morning and a cloudy afternoon. This morning is cloudy and cool and a chance of rain this evening.

Church on Sunday was a great message, and Linda and I did our first Ushering. After service we spend the morning at the storage garage working on the new trailer. We leave in the morning for the RV park in Taylor, Texas. Today we have to finish up backing and getting the trailer ready. We leave early in the morning for a long drive.

My weight yesterday morning was up a little but down a whole pound this morning. I believe it is due to the new blood pressure med. While it is the same meds it is different in that I am to take a whole pill every other day instead of a half pill everyday. My 28 day calorie average is down to 1750 which is below what I would like. I am trying to adjust to about 1850 a day on average and I seem to have undershot my goal. I seem to be the one if I am trying to eat less I go way to little and if I am trying to eat more I go way too much. I cannot seem to get it in the range I need. But I also am this way I am only eating what I feel I need. I am really listening to my body and eating what I feel it is telling me I need. And yes some days it is telling me I need sugar, and others that I need more salt. But most of the time it is just help to have what is my normal intake.

I am not sure if I will be able to post for the next week seeing I will be out of the house and on the road and at RV parks and state parks. I will have some pictures and comments as a can.

A little about my eating habits

I have not talked about intuitive eating for a while. I am still following the concept of intuitive eating. I am logging what I eat but I am not really measuring my food, I estimate the amount I eat. I am eating to fuel my body and I stop eating when I feel I have eaten enough. I have times, days even that I eat much more than other days or times. I am not allowing myself to become starved and I am not allowing myself to feel stuffed. While I have not been able so far to do the walks or hikes I would love to be doing, I am active everyday. This year has been one thing after another that has to be done and preventing me from doing what I would like to be doing. I have cut way back on the amount of cookies and ice cream that I was eating for a while. I still get a good bit of sugar from fruit, and my wife loves to cook French toast and pancakes. I also use local raw honey for sweetening my cereal. My enemy is salt, and if I get too much salt and sugar together I end up eating more than I should.

I did have my check up yesterday and all is not only okay but very good to great. All of my numbers our very good now. I did not even get a talking to about my blood pressure or my weight. In fact my doctor says my weight is good for my age, and height and build. So I have reset my weight goal to 195, which is where I am at now and I will try to drop as much as 5 pounds below my goal. But I am not going to sweat it as long as I manage to stay within plus 2 pound plus and 5 pounds minus my goal. So I will say this it is still all about calories in and calories out. As long as you eat the same our less than your activity level.

A beautiful and cool morning

The sun is shining, and there is a breeze. Today will be busy getting the new camp trailer ready for our trip to Texas for about 8 days. The only two advantages to this trail over the other one is that it has a shower and toilet, and it is lighter. We are going to need a camera on the back of the trailer so we can see behind us. This on is higher so my inside review mirror is useless. This trailer also has storage so it means we have to rethink what we need to take with us. And it can only sleep the two of us.

Yesterday was long and busy. I had my first checkup at the VA clinic here in Hot Springs, it was a much better checkup that any of the others I have had at a VA clinic. I got a chest x-ray, an baseline EKG, and the updated shingles shot, well the first of two shots, I have to go back in July for the second one. All of my lab work was not just good but great by the standards. My blood pressure was good for a change. I was also told that my weight was good and I did not really need to lose anymore weight. I do feel I need to lose about 5 pounds and I will be working to do so. But I will not be limiting my calories to do it, I will be raising my activity level to do so. I was also told not to change what I am eating as long as I was not gaining weight. The doctor said that I am 70 and I should have some extra fat as a backup encase I became sick.

I am encluding a few pictures of the trailer

Another beautiful day

This morning started out kind of cold, but it did warm up very nicely.

My weight is still the same, this is even hard for me to believe. My 28 day average is down to 1825, and my 7 days is down to 1675 which is lower than I would like but I am trying to break the stalemate that I am in.

I took the scooter out for a long ride, it fact I have now doubled my miles on my scooter. It was a really good ride and I really enjoyed it. I also hiked at the Cedar Creek Hiking Trail which is something I have been wanting to do. I will be going back there regularly until I get back in to shape. This trail has a lot of shade and it is along the creek and lots of birds and other animals.
I am showing some of the pictures that took.

Another beautiful day

Woke up a little early to a beautiful day. My weight is still the same, even with my calories being down.

I did get to take a short ride today, then we went to Hot Springs and found a camp trailer that is an a-frame and has a shower and potty. The trailer is a little smaller and lighter than the one we are trading in. Then we went to Brenda’s and got our trailer and took it to Livingston Camper. We also took a lot of our stuff out of the trailer. I am not sure where we are going to put it all.

Found a crack in the plastics of my scooter. I have taken pictures and sent them to the dealship to see if this is covered under the warranty.
