Student and a Professor's discussion of God ( You will be surprised to who the Student was)

Professor : You are a Christian, aren’t you, son ?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor: So, you believe in GOD ?
Student : Absolutely, sir.
Professor : Is GOD good ?
Student : Sure.
Professor: Is GOD all powerful ?
Student : Yes.
Professor: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?
(Student was silent.)
Professor: You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s start again, young fella. Is GOD good?
Student : Yes.
Professor: Is Satan good ?
Student : No.
Professor: Where does Satan come from ?
Student : From … GOD …
Professor: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?
Student : Yes.
Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And GOD did make everything. Correct?
Student :Yes
Professor: So who created evil ?
(Student did not answer.)
Professor: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor: So, who created them ?
(Student had no answer.)
Professor: Science says you have 5 Senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son, have you ever seen GOD?
Student : No, sir.
Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your GOD?
Student : No , sir.
Professor: Have you ever felt your GOD, tasted your GOD, smell your GOD? Have you ever had any sensory perception of GOD for that matter?
Student : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.
Professor: Yet you still believe in Him?
Student : Yes.
Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.
Professor: Yes, faith. And that is the problem Science has.
Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?
Professor: Yes.
Student : And is there such a thing as cold?
Professor: Yes.
Student : No, sir. There isn’t.
(The lecture theatre became very quiet with this turn of events.)
Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.
(There was pin-drop silence in the lecture theater.)
Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?
Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?
Student : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light. But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and its called darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it is, were you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?
Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man ?
Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.
Professor: Flawed ? Can you explain how?
Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good GOD and a bad GOD. You are viewing the concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing.
Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
Professor: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.
Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going.)
Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor. Are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?
(The class was in uproar.)
Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor’s brain?
(The class broke out into laughter. )
Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?
(The room was silent. The Professor stared at the student, his face unfathomable.)
Professor: I guess you’ll have to take them on faith, son.
Student : That is it sir … Exactly ! The link between man & GOD is FAITH. That is all that keeps things alive and moving.
P.S.
I believe you have enjoyed the conversation. And if so, you’ll probably want your friends /colleagues to enjoy the same, won’t you?
Forward this to increase their knowledge … or FAITH.
By the way, that student was EINSTEIN

Listening to 1812 Overture

I did an experiment with my hearing aids and my Bose over the ear headset. First I listened to the music with my hearing aids in on the music program with the headset. Then I listened using the streamer connected to my music with the audio cable, then I listened to the music with my hearing aids out and just using my headset. My unprofessional results is that the music sounds much better with my hearing aids on the music program and using my Bose headset.  The range of music was much better and the sound level was much better too. With the streamer connected with the audio cable is was good but the sound was not as good and the lows did not come through as good. With my aids out of course I had to turn up the volume and I and I seemed to be missing some of the middle range frequencies. The lows were great and the very high notes were also great.
I have tried it with the Bluetooth streaming with my streamer before and it was no where as good.

After almost 3 months with my new hearing aids.

I have been using the Alta Pros now for almost 3 months, and I have really noticed some great changes. All of the sounds around me are really sounding so normal now. I am not having to change programs near as often. I even find myself able to sound out words so much better when I am trying to spell words. I have been so bad as a speller for almost 35 years. Even my wife has made comments that I am pronouncing my words a lot better than I use to.
Also I find that even after my Audi turned down my aids by a click that I am turning them down another click after I put them in in the mornings. Except when the TV is on or my wife is listening to music I can hear my wife talk to me from the other rooms of the house.
I am still having the normal issues with extremely noisy places and times, but I am hearing things again that I never expected to again. It did not happen all at once one I got these aids it has just been happening a little along. I really believe that Oticon has it right with brain hearing, it sure seems that I am relearning hearing again, and I am sure it is my aids that are also learning from the environment that I am in and a round.
Also I find that I am much more relaxed now and even my blood pressure is lower, I understand a some of it is due to me being retired and finally excepting that fact.

My office is in the front of the house and we have a front porch, the other day there were birds the were in hanging flower pots, and I could hear them singing even with the winds closed and the fan noise of the old computer I have in my office. At first I did not know what it was then my wife who was setting in the office with me looked over and smiled, and said you can hear the birds too cannot you, and I said yes.
I have to say that these aids at least for me have improve my quality of life.

Now that I am getting older I really need to get this off my chest and finally say what I am thinking and feeling.

First off, I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I am more of a middle of the road type of person. I am conservative in lots of ways, but I am also very liberal too. I very much believe and depend on Social Security, but it does not do much more that help me live. I also believe in Medicare even with all of its throw backs. I believe that we all need health and live insurance, but I do not believe that Obama Care is the answer to the issue. And when it comes to Income Tax, I believe we all should pay our share. But I also believe that the rich and the corporations do not pay their fair share. Most of the tax bill is falling on the Middle Class and the Middle Class is getting much smaller all the time. I do not understand how the USA is going to be able to keep going the way it is.

We need to stop giving our money away to other Countries and start taking care of the one here in this country. We also need to enforce our immigration laws and stop giving the country away to the illegals that is taking over this country. We have to close our borders and enforce the laws. We have to either make the illegals pay the fines and taxes that they owe this country, and stop them from sending all of the money they make back to their home countries. We also should not be paying for their schooling unless they are here legally, nor should we be paying for the medical, or housing etc. And we are doing that now.

Now let me say I am not against immigration I am just against everyone that is crossing or borders illegally. And while I am at it The USA is a country that English is the language the we speak and we should not be teaching anything but English in our schools except for electives. Yes I know we live in a world now that we should know other languages but we should not have to teach our kids anything but English until high school. I also do not believe we should have any road signs or any of the official documentation in any other language but English.

I also want to say something else. This is going to be hard for me to explain correctly. I hate what has happened to this world due to race issues. We as humans should see all others as equals. We should not be labeling anyone due to there color or race. We were all created equal and we should all be treated as equals, but to do that we have to act as equals.

I also have to say this it hurts and makes me so very angry how our Police are being treated. I know that they as a whole do the best that they can to protect everyone. I hate the way that they are being treated and that treatment is be multiplied by our very liberal press. They do not care about anything but the numbers and the more they can keep things stirred up the more that they get the numbers.

Now on to our so called House of Representatives and Senators. They are a joke, they are elected to represent us but all they do is pad their own bank accounts. They are so worried about the big money they can get from special interest that the country means nothing to them. I believe we should outlaw special interest money, and lobbyist. I also believe that we should get away from the party system that we have now it is doing nothing but sending this country to Hell.

And for my last and most important thinking, we have to put God and prayer back into or schools and lives. This country has been going down hill ever since we gave into a few and removed God for our schools and our Government and lives. I am not saying we should push any one belief, we should respect others beliefs. And we should expect others to respect our beliefs. I do not tell anyone how or what they should believe, and I expect them to do the same for me. If they do not then I will continue to believe the way I do and I will pray and praise my God in front of them anyway, as I would expect them to do the same. But I will not except or yield to anyone that tells me I cannot pray in public because it is against their beliefs.

God Bless y-all

My hearing aid history

I have been wearing aids since May of 2005. My first aids were Sonic Innovations ITE, they were poorly fit. I applied to the VA for a Service related Hearing loss and received my Siemens ITE aids in Nov of 2006 they worked out to be fairly good. and March 2010 I had another VA appointment and was given new aids; Oticon Dual WX with the streamer; I have the Plus domes. OK for an update I received my new aids this October and the are Oticon Alta Pro custom fit ITC. The VA is still taking care of my aids and hearing. I am very much more active and love to ride my bicycle, walk, hike, an work in the yard. The Duals had issues with me sweating and have stopped working several times. Both have been repaired at least twice, also my hearing has gotten worse and I am now at a severe hearing loss in my right ear with only 20% voice recognition left in the right ear, my left ear is moderately severe. My Alta Pros are proving to be really great, I am hearing much better, even enjoying music and the TV much more than ever before. I am here to help you if I can.

My Experience with Hearing Aids.

My hearing aid experience begins with me getting and hearing test back early in 2005 and being told that I really needed hearing aids. I really had no idea what to expect or even what I needed. I was having issues understanding what people was telling me, and at times not even hearing people talk to me.
But to go a lot farther back in time when I was mustering out of the Navy back in very early 1977, I was given a hearing test and was told that I had a hearing loss, but they did not say anything to me about needing aids or that I should have gone as soon as possible to the VA and get into the VA system. I pretty much just for got about it. Then again in about 1992 I was working on a government job and was given a hearing test and again was told I had a hearing loss, but again was not really told I needed help with hearing or that I should seek further help.
Then in 1999 I had a job as phone support specialist and was noticing myself shouting into the phones when I had some one on the other end that was in a very noise server data center, and I was also being asked by others that worked with me to hold it down. But still I was not willing to go and seek the help that I needed. So I just kept putting it off.
Then fast forward to 2005. I start by searching the Internet for information about hearing aids. And I ended up with an audiologist that was recommended by a hearing aid company that their aids sound good to me. And to be Honest that was a big mistake, but at least I managed to get started on my journey.
It has been my experience that it takes your brain about 6 weeks to 3 months to get use to hearing aids. The aids will be letting you hear so many different sounds that you have not been able to hear or maybe the sounds are just so much louder that they seem to be new. Believe me brain hearing is a true statement and your brain has to get use to the new/old sounds that it has forgotten about. I can only imagine what it is like for someone that is deaf that gets implants and are then able to hear. To give you just one example, upon leaving the audiologist after getting my first aids, I got into my car and was hearing something that I did not know what it was, it turned out to be the turn signal, I never knew that they made any sound. I could goon and on but I believe you can figure it out from there. Also it was great to be out in nature again and hear the bees, and the birds etc.
You will need to be very patient when you get your first set of aids, not only with it take time to get them adjusted correctly but you will have to adjust also to the new sounds of your environment.

Is it just me talking

We all have our likes and dislikes, but that does not mean we are always right. What is right for me does not mean it is right for anyone else. It is alright to voice our likes and dislikes but never right to force them on anyone else.

VA appointment this morning

Up early this morning, I had a VA hearing appointment. I had so minor adjustments made to my hearing aids. I talked to my audiologist about some of the issues I have with hearing my wife while I am in the car and or driving. She is ordering me a bluetooth mic that my wife can wear on that will let me hear her better. My wife if my navigator while I drive and also helps me at times understand what the cars GPS is trying to tell us.
I noticed lots if changes at the clinic, the VA really seems to be trying to make improvements. And starting in January I will be able to just walk in for minor adjustments that I have been having to wait as much as 2 months to have done. I know that the wait my be some time before I will be seen but it is much better than before.
And today I found out that my audiologist wears aids too. I always knew that she talked as if she had hearing problems but today we got to talking about different aids and she showed me what she wears. I do not believe I ever could wear an aid that was completely hidden in my ear canal, first off my hearing is to bad for the power that the real small aids can put out. second I do not believe I could handle something that small any more.

I am so fed up

I am so fed up with the US news media and even the Federal Government. The News media and the Government never had very much common sense and now they have none. Between the Government and the News media steering up so much trouble and problems that it is getting to be criminal. It is like the Federal Attorney General and the President are trying to start a revolution are even a take over of the Government.

I have not been exercising enough lately

But I have been doing a lot of research on my new hearing aids and my hearing loss. I am getting geared up for my appointment with my audiologist. My aids are great but I believe that I can now explain what I am hearing and hopefully be able to even make my aids and streamer better.
My aids seem to be the best on the market for my hearing loss, and I am hoping for a few adjustments to even make them better. I will post back on this after 12/10/2014

Here we are in December already

The year is almost over, and I feel that I have not done anything this year. I should be so happy with the fact that I retired, but that is not what I wanted. I see so much that is wrong with the world and just not sure what to do about it. There is a part of me that says the people of the world needs to take this world back one country at a time by taking back control of every nation on earth. But that is not the way I was raised. We have to be asking our God to help us to bring an end to this evil that has taken over our world. And it is at the highest level of ever government and every country on earth.
God please come and take us away for the devil that is among us.

My Experience with my new hearing aids Oticon Alta Pro ITC

Just got back from the VA, I have my new aids, new streamer pri 1.2, and new phone connect, and I am using the same TV connect that I already had. So far they are great I can hear sounds that I did not even know was missing. They are feeling great. They are ITC aids, and have no controls or buttons at all on the aids. I will be giving more details about how they are doing as I use them and figure out everything. So far I know that I can use my IPhone and the IPhone app with my streamer pro and I have been able to use blue tooth phone calls with the phone connect and the IPhone also the TV connect is working great. I am hearing my voice some at this time but it is not bad and not bother me at all.

The IPhone app works great and yes there is a little delay, but that is normal, due to the time it takes the blue tooth connections to work.

The TV connect works even better with the streamer Pro than with the streamer. I am loving the IPhone app for setting programs and connecting to the Phone and TV connect. My wife always disliked the fact that the streamer was so visible. So now I can hide the streamer under my shirt and use the IPhone app to make program changes and volume changes. I have a general in noise, music, an phone programs. The streamer pro seems to have a better battery life than the streamer did. I really like the smaller size of the streamer pro and I love the way the loop connects.

Wow I never could get my streamer to work with my computer using Bluetooth, but the streamer pro works great. I am looking forward to going to the movies on Monday to see how the streamer pro works with the movie theater t-loop system.

Went to a movie and for the first time since wearing hearing aids I was able to understand speech. I have the streamer pro with the t-coil and was able to use it in the movie. Speech was loud and clear and the music and other sounds were in the background and at a level that was comfortable.

I have had my new ITC Alta Pros for 11 days and they a very comfortable and sound great. Of course not as good as natural hearing but for me so very close. Also after 11 days I finally had to change the batteries, I estimated that I got 135 hrs of use out of the batteries and that includes about a third of that time using the streamer to either stream the TV or music from my IPhone.

I have to say the longer I wear my new aids the better they sound. I am learning which programs work for me and when to use them. I have a general program which of course I use most of the time. I have a directional program for noisy places, seeing we are retired and not going out that much I have only used this program a couple of times. I have a music program, I have learned that for average TV use that I can use this program, as well as setting on the deck and listening to the birds and bees. I also have a phone program that I do not really need, I am not finding it to be that useful and will ask my audiologist to remove it. I am loving the phone connect and the Bluetooth setup to my IPhone it is great for most of my phone calls. I also have the TV connect and I use it when I am really trying to understand spoken words on the TV, nightly news and some of the series that we watch. And as I noted earlier I have found the t-coil connection of the streamer great when we go to a movie. Also I am finding that I very seldom have to adjust the volume of my aids. My wife is happy that the TV is not so loud. And I have even asked her a time or two to lower the volume of the TV.

Other than the likely removal of the phone program I am not seeing any changes that need to be made to my aids. They are such an improvement over my Duals WX that I can not believe. At least for me the ITC custom Alta Pros are the way to go.

It has been just over 2 weeks now with my new aids and I have gotten to be point that I can not live without them. I am also getting to where I forget that I have them in, and will even at times check to make sure that I have them in. I really can say at least for me they sound very clear and normal sounds. I love going out in to the fields and woods and just setting down an listening to nature. And I can now do that again. I believe Oticon has hit it with their concept of how aids should be.

The reason I went to the ITC is that I also bike ride and power walk. And also I do a lot of yard work and work around the house, and I sweat very much. I had the duals WX, I had a lot of issues with them stopping working when I sweated very much so I would not wear them at all if I was riding my bike are doing my power walks, or working in the yard or around the house. I deal with the VA and they do a great job of getting the aids fixed but returning sometimes takes up to 6 weeks, then there is getting an appointment to get them resetup that can take 2 to 3 months. So I babied my BTE aids. I have been wearing these from the time I get dressed in the morning until I get ready for bed and then put them in a dry and store for the night. I have not had an issue so far. I also believe the fact that I have no controls on the aids helps the moisture issues.

What I am loving now about my bike rides and my walks is that I can hear what is going on around me or I can listen to music using my streamer and Iphone to stream it to my aids. But I have to say most of the time I just listen to nature around me.

It is almost 3 weeks now since I got the Alta Pros and I am finding that I am more relaxed when talking to others, as well as when watching TV and I can now enjoy music again as well as listen to audio books. Would I recommend these aids yes but I also have a belief that everyone is different and everyone has different needs. So yes gives these a try but whither are not they work for you will be your on personal needs and likes.

Just got back from a long trip (915 miles round trip) and I found that my aids are great in that they lower the road noise and I was also able to listen to the radio and also CDs. On the way home I was listening to a cd with classical music and I was surprised at how many of the instruments that I was able to pick out. My wife was able to confirm them for me If I was not able to pick them out. As always aids get better ever year and the Oticon Alta Pros are the best that I have ever had.
PS I said that too about the Oticon Duals WX that I got in 2010.

I have had my Oticon Alta Pros now for a month. In that month I have not been back for any adjustments I have only changed batteries and I am only on my third set of batteries. I am wearing this aids from the time I get dressed in the morning until I get undressed for bed at night, and average of about 15 hours a day that I wear them. I am listening to a lot more music that I have in the past, and I am also listening to audiobooks and enjoying them. I had given up on audiobooks and music for a long time due to them not being enjoyable. I also get much more out of TV due to being able to understand what is being said. Also I am wearing my aids while exercising and working in the yard, something that I dared not do with my BTE aids due to the way I sweat. The only thing I am going to change is remove the phone program, and see if I can get a program that lets me hear better to my right while I am driving, so my wife and I can talk and I can understand her better with the road noise.
To say I am happy with the Alta Pros is an understatement. And I am liking the Streamer Pro much better than I ever did the old Streamer. And having the TV connect and the phone connect makes things so much easier. The IPhone App is good and I find it works as they intended for it to work but I would love to see a few improvements to it. One other thing that I have found, when mowing my yard I can mute my aids and they do a great job of being ear plugs.
My wish list for the App are being able to see how much battery life is left in the aids if that is even possible.
Also be able to change Program Icons without having to remove all programs from the App and reset them up. This is not a big issue to do but should not have to do.

Ok one more thing to say I went out for a walk this morning and the wind is very high, and I did not have any issues with wind noise. That is a first for me. The other aids I have had all had huge issues with wind noise.

One more little bit of information when connected to the TV connect, listening to music using the streamer, or connecting with the phone connect, or using the cell phone with bluetooth connection to the streamer and aids you can mute the mics and you do not have any outside noise or at least very little. This makes things so much better. This muting is done either with the iphone app, or by holding both volume controls at the same time this will mute the mics. To un-mute all you need to do is hit one of the volume controls up or down.

I have had my aids now for over 5 weeks, most would say the honeymoon is over but I have to say that my aids just keep getting better. I believe as they learn my habits and my likes and dislike they adjust, why? I am getting to the point that I do not have to adjust the volume that much any more. They seem to know my needs so much better now. I love these aids more by the day. Also the batteries last for about 140 to 150 hours which is so much better than any of the aids I have had in the past.

I am averaging 140 hrs of battery time out of power one batteries in my aids. How does that compare to any of you with Alta Pros. I do about 30% of the time streaming music or TV

Went out for a long walk for exercise today. Streamed music from my IPhone and muted my mics, this gave me a wonderful walk without any wind noise at all, and I could still hear most of what was around me. The more I have these aids and the streamer pro the more I learn about them and the more I love them. And yes I know that the streamer pro is not streaming in stereo and that is OK with me. It is nice to be out walking and hear the music and no one has to know that I am listening to music and I can still hear more of what is going on around me than the ones that I see with ear buds in their ears.

I am setting here with my Bose Quiet Comfort headset on and I am listening to the 1812 Overture. The Alta Pros are the first hearing aids that I have ever had that I can listen to music with my headset and my hearing aids on at the same time. And it does sound great. No feedback and using my music program wow what a great sound. Then I listened to different music that was piano and it sound great, then Chet Akins playing the guitar and again wow. Yes I know my hearing is still limited but wow it is sounding great

I never was able to use my headset with my BTE RITE aids, like you said to much feedback

I am not sure if I have the 85 or the 90 db either. My average days is putting my aids in at 8:00am and removing them at 10:00pm. I am getting 10 days out of my battries, the VA gives my the power ones. I get a box of 60 batteries at a time. I call as ask for batteries when I get down to 12 left. I will say that I have had batches of the batteries that did not last for even a day in the past. I keep my batteries in a zip lock bag until I need them. I do keep on pack in my billfold and when that 6 are used I get a new pack to keep with me. I am using the streamer to stream the TV and music about 3 hours a day. I am retired so I am on the phone very little anymore. I turn the Streamer Pro off when I am not streaming or I am at home. I use the bluetooth connection to my IPhone for calls only when away from home. I have the magnets on all my phones so my aids switch to the phone connections automatically. And I even have a magnet on my IPhone just encase of a call while at home.  And one other thing I turn the volume down on click on my aids as soon as I put them in in the mornings, to me they seem to loud and I will dressing that issue with my audi the 10th of December.
I am like you I do not know for sure that the tape works. but I have seen a difference in time since doing it, Also my aids and my batteries go in a dry and store at night.

I have to say something about the state of a fairs of this country.

This country has gone down so badly over the last 6 years, and it is scaring the hell out of me. It all comes down to the liberal press, a President that should be charged with Treason. And a country gone to hell due to parents and teachers no longer being able to discipline the children of this country. The big issue is that we have taken God out of our schools we have let other countries tell us what to do and we have let this country be over run with criminals and illegal immigrants. We have become a country of idiots that have no common sense.
If things do not change soon we will be taken over by China or Russia or worse North Korea.

Wow I am in love with my New Hearing Aids

I am setting here this morning listening to the 1812 Overture using my Bose Quiet Comfort headset and my Oticon Alta Pro aids, and I cannot believe how great it sounded. The more I have my aids the more I have to say WOW how great they are. I do have and use the music program on the aids along with the headset and cannot believe there isn't any feedback seeing the music program turns off all noise filters and basically turns the aids into a pure amplifier.

Feeling Great

Back at walking again, yesterday and today I managed 10K steps each day. I am going to allow myself at least 1 day to not have to walk the long walks but I want to average 10K steps a day for the 7 days. that is 70K steps a week. I am enjoying being able to listen to music using my new hearing aids, it is not stereo but it does sound great. I am also commenting myself the read Tom Clancy's Jack Ryans series in order.

It has been a long time since I last posted

I promise that  I will log more now. To bring you up to what has happened, I have retired from being a computer analyze. I have tried working for Home Depot but my legs and hips hurt so bad from the standing around for hours at a time that I called it quits. We have added a deck to the back of the house and also tiled our dinning area and living room. We have been on our first cruise, and taken a trip to Arkansas  to see my sister. I have received new hearing aids from the VA and I really love them. I have started to commit a lot again on the hear aid forums. I have also reconnected with my love for the Linux operating systems. I have gained some of my weight back. Some that I needed some that I do not. I am now working again to try to get that weight back off. I have gotten a new bicycle that I truly love but have not had a chance to ride enough. I am going to change that. I also have a bike trainer that I have yet to truly use. Going to change that too. Winter is coming on so I have to do something to get my weight down and keep it off.

Just speaking my mine.

I am 66 years old. I weigh 208.4, and have a percent of body fat of 17.5%. That means that if I was at 0% fat I would still weigh 171.5 pounds. So that means if I was to get down to a BMI of 25 I would have to get down to 6% body fat. And for my age I am already close to the least amount of body fat I should be at for my age. So where does all this stupid calculations come from that say you have to weigh so and so because the charts says so.
When are they going to wake up and get real meaningful readings for what a person should weigh? Well that is not going to happen because they would have to do it one person at a time. And all they want to do is look at overall numbers.

First ride on my new bike

I finally made my mind up to which road bike I was going to get. Giant Defy 1 it is a wonderful bike to ride not to stiff and it does ride great. I was totally surprised how comfortable the stock seat was seeing how narrow it is. I was also concerned about climbing the hills with having only 2 chain rings up front to work with, but the 10 gears in the back along with the compact chain ring setting was a wonderful experience. While this mornings ride was only 7 miles I did have a 20 mph wind to deal with, which would have meant with my other bike I would not even went out for the ride. But the gears shifted great and I was able to find a good match in gearing to let me have a great ride. I am looking forward to many more rides on this bike.
